Parchment News

Dear Panther Family,

The start of a new year is always a time for reflection, celebration, and renewed focus on our goals and priorities. As we continue strengthening connections and sharing our collective story, we also recognize that recent Executive Orders have raised questions within our community. Please know that amid these changes, the safety, well-being, and success of our students, staff, and families remain our highest priorities.

In January, we had the privilege of honoring our Board of Education members during School Board Appreciation Month, recognizing their dedication, leadership, and countless hours of service to our district. Over the past several months, we have welcomed three new board members, and I am energized by the passion, positivity, and commitment they bring to our team. Education—and our community—has evolved significantly over the past decade, and I am grateful to work alongside staff, administrators, and board members who are deeply committed to our mission and to finding innovative ways to move forward.

As a district, we have strategically and successfully leveraged grant funding, sinking funds, and operational funds to address critical infrastructure needs. Despite these efforts, challenges remain—leaking roofs, potholes, and aging buildings require urgent attention. During the 2023-2024 school year, the district conducted a comprehensive facilities audit and review, allowing us to develop a thorough understanding of our district’s needs, prioritize those needs, and explore cost-effective solutions while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

On May 6, 2025, the District will ask the community to consider a $36.4 million bond to upgrade facilities. This includes replacing roofs, improving HVAC systems, modernizing fire alarms, adding secure entrances, and ensuring ADA compliance. If approved, the bond will:

● Provide $36.4 million for critical upgrades, including:

○ Safety: Secure vestibules and updated fire alarms.

○ Mechanical: Improved heating and cooling.

○ Energy Efficiency: New windows, roof insulation, and temperature controls.

○ Infrastructure: Updated electrical systems to support air conditioning.

○ ADA Compliance: Accessible restrooms, doors, and curbs.

● Increase the millage by 2.95, but with the expiration of the 1.93 mill sinking fund, the net increase is only 1.02 mills over 2024.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be raising my family in a community that values education and holds us to the high standards our students deserve. I am grateful to work alongside educators who are not only dedicated but also willing to embrace change and take bold steps to ensure the best possible learning environment for our children. Thank you for your continued trust, collaboration, and support. It truly takes a village, and I am so glad you are part of mine!
